Back-end Developer


Relief Applications is looking for an enthusiastic Back-end developer to join our growing team.

We are looking for professionals passionate about shaping the next generation of innovators and humanitarian developers!

Relief Applications is a young European-based organization serving the international humanitarian and development sectors. Founded in 2014, by an IT expert and an experienced humanitarian during the Red Cross response to the Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon in the Philippines, we provide a variety of innovative services bridging humanitarian work and cutting-edge technology to disseminate new IT tools and significantly improve the efficiency of humanitarian organizations. Our clients include several United Nations organizations, Red Cross societies and NGOs such as Save the Children, Oxfam and many others.

At Relief Applications you will join a multinational team based in Madrid, where you will be part of the innovation task force, imagining and creating cutting edge solutions to change how we help those affected by disasters.

Working as a software Back-end developer you will take part in a full software development lifecycle. Relief Applications always develops several projects simultaneously which requires the ability to adapt to new skills & tools quickly.

You will be working side by side with interns and collaborate with each sector to bring innovative tools to life. The main responsibilities will be to help Relief Applications web platform and apps as a Back-end developer as well as ensuring tools are properly deployed.


EDUCATION

  • Degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering


EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years


SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Motivated developer with a passion for humanitarian development

  • Strong team player with "can do" attitude

  • Technical skills:

    • Python

    • NodeJS

    • Django desired

    • REST API design

    • Db MySQL, Redis, PostgresQL

    • Strong knowledge on Linux environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • English is mandatory. Spanish and French desired but not essential
